Twice Measured
A downloadable game
Twice Measured is a collaborative (or solo), GM-less game of arcane construction. Players form a work party of carpenters apprenticed to a wizard in the tower-building business. This game combines dice stacking and a tape measure accuracy challenge to simulate the joys, frustration, and quick skill-building experienced by new builders. Players make progress through failure and successes, and no prior construction experience is needed!
There are two main phases of Twice Measured: Measuring and Building. In the Measuring Phase, a player rolls a die to determine a length in inches and then tries to mark that length without aid on a stick or strip of paper. Then, the player’s mark is checked against a tape measure or ruler. If they succeed, they advance to the Building Phase. In the Building Phase, the player selects a die, rolls for its perks, and adds that die to the tower. Perks can enhance the Measuring Phase of the game. The game ends when the work party’s ready to call it a day.
This game is a work in progress. Version 0.2, April 18, 2026. Designed, written, and published by regularbird. Special thanks to Maggie, Catie, and Abel. Made by a human for humans. Inspired by my early struggles in carpentry, House Telvanni architecture, and everyone out there making things.
